A Greek fraternity is a society of men who have formed a social group to share and promote common interests. This social group consists of men that are college or university students or those that have successfully completed a level of higher education. The names of these fraternal groups are identified by Greek letters, i.e.: "ΦΗΨ." Friendship, fellowship and mutual support characterize the foundations for fraternity membership.

Phi Eta Psi Fraternity, Inc. is only for those men who seek to hold and adhere to higher personal standards, values, morals and goals for their lives. Membership in Phi Eta Psi allows an individual to develop and utilize character attributes that build and further the ideals of scholarship, brotherhood, leadership and service. To become the best, one must desire to be the best! Those individuals that become members of Phi Eta Psi will not only have the opportunity, but will be commissioned to build upon and further the vision of Phi Eta Psi Fraternity to become the"Greatest Fraternity in the World."sm

Phi Eta Psi Fraternity, Inc. has a "zero tolerance" for hazing in any form. We unequivocally believe that hazing or pledging no longer has a place in fraternity life the development or intake of new members. Phi Eta Psi believes in fostering respect for its fellow and perspective members and is an advocate to preserve human dignity. Phi Eta Psi Fraternity, Inc. supports, endorses and adheres to the anti-hazing policies of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). Founded in 1909, the NIC is an association of 75 international and national men’s fraternities that have adopted standards of performance and conduct. As an active member of Phi Eta Psi, you will be expected to attend chapter meetings and be involved in community service. Membership in Phi Eta Psi is designed to enhance one’s life and should not impair academic achievement or career accomplishment. We also know that the investment of one’s time determines the return on that investment. As brotherhood is a substantial element of fraternity life, the majority of our members desire to spend time in mutual support and fellowship, while involved in social or community service activities. Those members that seek leadership roles as chapter, regional, national officers or accept committee assignments agree to make a greater time commitment.

There is a nominal application and intake fee for new member candidates. As an active member, annual chapter and national dues are assessed to support national operating expenses, social activities and community service projects. The majority of financial support for the Fraternity comes through a variety of activities. Unlike some other fraternal organizations, Phi Eta Psi chooses not to place a financial burden on our members through excessive dues and fees.

Phi Eta Psi is interested in expanding its membership to men that exhibit good character, leadership, sound values, ambition to succeed and other qualities in keeping with the standards of Phi Eta Psi Fraternity. Those men interested in seeking membership in Phi Eta Psi may inquire through a known member of Phi Eta Psi on their college or university campus, their local community or alumni chapter or by utilizing this official website [click here]. Undergraduate member candidates must meet academic standards specified by the Fraternity and college or university in which the candidate is currently enrolled. Graduate or Alumni member candidates must seek the written endorsement and sponsorship of an active member of Phi Eta Psi Fraternity, Inc. At-Large membership may be considered on a case-by-case basis for men that meet criteria not specifically outlined in our admissions policy. There is a "zero tolerance" of hazing by any member of Phi Eta Psi Fraternity, Inc. Hazing, pledging, pledge "lines," pre-pledge "lines" or post-intake hazing are strictly prohibited and deemed unlawful by this Fraternity. (See: Standing Order #002-08-10) WHEREAS the definition of hazing has been held to include any action taken or situation created that involves or results in abusive, physical contact or mutual harassment of a prospective Phi Eta Psi member; and that any such action is considered hazing, whether it occurs on or off the Fraternity premises, campus or place where chapters or prospective members meet: and that hazing has also been described to include any action that results in excessive mutual or physical discomfort, embarrassment or harassment; that such activities include, but are not limited to paddling, creation of excessive fatigue, physical or psychological shock, morally degrading or humiliating activities, late work sessions that interfere with scholastic activities and any other activities inconsistent with fraternal law and regulations and policies of the affiliated educational institution and federal, state or local law; and WHEREAS such illegal conduct is inimical to the principles for which Phi Eta Psi stands and fails to foster respect for fellow members or preserve human dignity.
