NEWEST ALUMNI CHAPTER SETS THE BAR HIGH
FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Phi Alpha Epsilon Alumni Chapter in California which was established in 2015 participated in the 4th Annual Kirkland Academy for Excellence - Labor of Love Day Camp. The three week day camp program began June 13 - July 1, 2016 at Grant AME Church, Los Angeles, CA. Over 80 day campers participated in science experiments, arts & crafts, field trips, Urban Ballroom dance, and other fun activities. The Alumni Chapter's involvement began with a $300 check donation presented by Brother JabulaniN'Namdi to Day Camp Coordinators Lessie Thompson and Jackie Cochran on the first day of day camp. The donation was part of the Alumni Chapter's Simple Act of Kindness (SAK) Campaign. Additionally, Brother Darrin Neely lead a discussion on "The Importance of Making Good Decisions." Also present at this discussion were Bro. JabulaniN'Namdi and Founding Father Rondy Harris. Bro. Jabulani and his dance partner EllaryBhimji, of Urban Ballroom Unlimited Dance Company, introduced Urban Ballroom dance to day campers. Lastly, Bro. Jabulani chaperoned KAE-LOL Day Camp field trip, which concluded the day camp summer program. Moreover, by email, Day Camp Coordinators Lessie Thompson and Jackie Cochran expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the Phi Alpha Epsilon Alumni Chapter of Phi Eta Psi Fraternity Inc. for its generous donation, community involvement, and continued support to the Grant AME Church family (which Bro. Jabulani is a church member).
